Bloomerang Lilac

Bloomerang Lilac (Syringa 'SMSJBP7') Bloomerang Lilac, Syringa 'SMSJBP7', is a reblooming lilac that packs classic lilac fragrance and rich purple color into a compact, easy to place shrub. Deep purple buds open to lavender purple flower clusters in late spring, then with a light trim and good care the plant sends up additional flushes of bloom later in the season. Clean green foliage fills the framework the rest of the year, so even between flowering cycles the plant provides solid structure in borders and foundation plantings. In small gardens, along paths, or near patios, Bloomerang Lilac offers a long lasting, sweetly scented focal point that you can enjoy well beyond the usual lilac season. Distinctive Features Bloomerang Lilac typically grows about 4 to 5 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, forming a dense, rounded shrub on multiple stems. Spring brings a strong first flush of bloom on the branch tips, followed by additional waves of flowers on new growth later in summer and sometimes into early fall when conditions are favorable. Compact size and a naturally neat habit mean it usually does not require heavy pruning to look tidy. Medium green, heart shaped leaves provide a classic lilac look and a clean backdrop for the colorful flower trusses, making this variety easy to blend into mixed borders and entry plantings.
